Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practises and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
因此，無論誰廢除誡命中最小的一條，又這樣教導人，他在天國中必稱為最小的；但若有人遵行這些誡命，並且教導人遵行，他在天國中必稱為大。我告訴你們，你們的義若不勝過經學家和法利賽人的義，就必不能進天國。
Lord Jesus addresses His disciples’ relationship to Moses’ Law. The commandments are to be obeyed as explained and fulfilled by His life and teaching, not as in the legalistic thinking of the religious authorities of that day. So we as Christians are done through Him with the law as a means of gaining a righteous standing before God and do not run the danger of being called least in the kingdom of heaven by not observing those requirements like animal sacrifice as detailed in the law. When we see what keeping the law really means and our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees in kind, not degree, we are thankful that Lord Jesus offers us a different kind of righteousness.
主耶穌論及祂門徒與摩西律法的關係：誡命是要按照祂所解釋的，並祂的生命和教導所成全的來遵守，而不是按照那時代宗教權威的法律思想而行。因此，我們作為基督徒透過祂，成全了在神面前那可得義位之工具的律法，並不會因著不遵行摩西律法中所詳細的規定如動物獻祭，而冒著在天國被稱為最小的危險。當我們看到遵守律法的真正含義，並我們的義在性質上超越了文士和法利賽人的義，而不是在程度上時，我們感謝主耶穌給了我們另一類的公義。
Prayer: Father God, the law sends us to Lord Jesus to be justified because it shows us our inability to please you in ourselves. Thank you after we come to Christ, He sends us back to the law to learn your heart for our conduct and sanctification. May the grace and resurrecting power of Jesus Christ, your abundant love, and the fellowship and guidance of the Holy Spirit be with us always having a life living up to your call. Amen.
禱告: 父神啊，律法把我們送到主耶穌那裡去，才可以得著稱義，因為律法表明我們不能靠自己討你喜悅。感謝你，我們來到基督面前之後，祂又把我們送回律法那裡去，學習明白你對我們行為和成聖的心意。願耶穌基督的恩典和復活的大能、你豐盛的慈愛，並聖靈的團契和引導，常與我們同在，有著一個與蒙你所召相稱的人生。阿們。
