“Knowing God: Goal of All Christian Doctrine 認識神是基督教教義的目標“（Psalm 詩篇 5:1-4, 7）
Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. … But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down towards your holy temple.
耶和華啊！求你留心聽我的話，顧念我的嘆息。我的王，我的神啊！求你傾聽我呼求的聲音，因為我向你禱告。耶和華啊！求你在清晨聽我的聲音；我要一早向你陳明，並且迫切等候。因為你是不喜愛邪惡的神，惡人不能與你同住。… 至於我，我必憑著你豐盛的慈愛，進入你的殿；我要存著敬畏你的心，向你的聖所敬拜。
The prayer time of a great man of prayer like David is focused on God. David meditated on God’s righteous characters. His ground of confidence was God’s mercy. His worship was based not on his feelings but on his reverence for a righteous, merciful God. The ultimate goal of all Christian doctrine is to know God Himself. To know God well a Christian must think on Him unceasingly. Sustained and intelligently directed meditation on the Persons of God is imperative. To seek God apart from His own self-disclosure in the inspired Scriptures is not only futile but dangerous. There must be also a knowledge of and complete trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Redeemer.
一個像大衛的禱告偉人，他的禱告時刻是聚焦在神身上。大衛默想神公義的性格，他信頼的基礎是神的慈悲憐憫。他的敬拜不是基於自己的感受，而是他對一位公義、慈悲憐憫之神的敬畏。所有基督教教義的終極目標就是認識神自己，若要好好地認識神，基督徒就必須不斷地思想祂。持久而理智地導引的默想神的位格，是絕對不可少的。若離開神在默示的聖經中自己的自我啟示而去尋求祂，不僅是徒勞無功，更是危險。同時，必須對耶穌基督作為主和救贖主有認識和完全信靠。
Prayer: Father God, we often come to prayer so full of our request or our feelings that we never consciously focus on you and sense your presence. We know that our actions do matter before you who hate all wickedness. Help us to know and love you more honouring you at the beginning of our day and setting the tone for an entire day dedicated unto you. Amen.
禱告: 父神啊，我們往往帶著自己滿滿的訴求或情緒來禱告，以致我們從未有意識地聚焦在你身上和感應你的臨在。我們曉得在恨惡一切邪惡的你面前，自己的行為真不是無關緊要。求你幫助我們認識和愛慕你更多，我們一天的開始就尊你為大，為整天設定曲調呈獻給你。阿們。
